OCTOBER

PASTOR APPRECIATION MONTH
There seldom seems to be enough time in a day to offer words of thanks to the men and women who do so much for us. To provide us with a reminder and the encouragement needed to do so, the month of October is designated as Pastor Appreciation Month.

As Christians, we often find ourselves in need of guidance or advice. For many of us, Pastor Jim and April are the people we turn to when the waters around us get rough or we find ourselves out of our depth. Through their caring and kindness, they have soothed the concerns of so many and offered direction when we were in need of it.

Not only is Beacon Bible Church blessed to have Pastor Jim and April in our lives but we also have Pastor Don and Lorraine who have dedicated their lives to ministry. Since October is Pastor Appreciation Month, a handwritten letter/note or a card expressing gratitude to the pastors and their wives would be a simple and personal way of saying thank you for all that they do to encourage, support, guide and comfort us when we need it most.

1 Timothy 5:17 Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine.

1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. Be at peace among yourselves.

                          OUR PASTOR

Have you ever walked in our Pastor's shoes,
And gone where his feet have trod?
Have you ever thought of what he means to us,
And on your knees, given thanks to God?

Have you ever told him thank you,
For being there, when times are tough,
For comforting words and fervent prayers
When trials come and the storms of life are rough?

He answers our calls in the middle of the night
And tells us not to worry, for he will be there.
He gives up his comfort of quiet rest
And comes with prayers of comfort to share.

Have you ever thought to say thank you Pastor,
For preaching God's word to help us understand,
For all the times he has asked for things
That will lend us a helping hand?

When you pray, put him at the top of the list
And ask the Lord to surround him with loving care,
To give him strength and walk with him,
To help him with the burdens that he must bear.

Have you ever walked in our Pastor's shoes,
And gone where his feet have trod?
Have you ever thought of what he means to us,
And on your knees, given thanks to God?

SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP SERVICE
For those unable to attend in person, the Sunday Morning Worship Service will live stream at 11:00 AM on the Beacon Bible Church Face Book page.

CHURCH POTLUCK DINNER
There is something very special about Beacon Bible Church's potluck dinners. Maybe it is the beautifully decorated Fellowship Hall, all the delicious and tantalizing food arranged on the tables to whet our appetite, or the laughter of the church family, friends and guests as we dine together. While all of these make the potluck enjoyable, there are many reasons we gather together to share a meal. It's a time of fellowship, getting to know more about each other, and the perfect opportunity to tell our pastors and their wives how much we appreciate their prayers, love, and support.

The Church Potluck Dinner will be held in the Fellowship Hall after the morning worship service on October 11th. If you plan to attend we ask that you bring a main dish and a dessert or a main dish and a side dish such as salad, vegetables, or beans.

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY
When you have a group of women gathered together, excited about studying the scriptures, deeply devoted to developing a close personal relationship with God, and spending time in fervent prayer, you are talking about the women at Beacon Bible Church who attend the Bible Study Class on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 2:00 PM. Desiring an abundant life, they study the Bible to understand His plan for each of them, and they strive to live their lives so that God might be glorified. As they encourage, support, and spend time in prayer, they praise Him for His many blessings.

The class is a special time of rich fellowship as like-minded women gather together to deepen their faith. You will find the women challenged and changed for the better as they delve into the Word of God. The women will continue their study of 1 Samuel which focuses on the sovereignty of Yahweh, God of Israel, the reversal of human fortunes, and kingship in the Ministry Room 2 on October 8th and 22nd at 2:00 PM.

CHURCH SHOOT OUT
If you enjoy the great outdoors and want to improve your marksmanship or even just to get a little exercise, join the Beacon Bible Church gang on Saturday, October 17th.

Participants will be meeting in the Denny's parking lot on I -17 and Deer Valley Road before 7:00 AM. The group will be leaving Denny's at 7:00 AM and driving out to Table Mesa Road where they will join those who have been busy setting up targets and securing a safe place for the morning activities. Safety and fun intermix in this exciting outing that is popular with young and old alike.

Join us and enjoy the beauty of the desert while learning something about gun safety and target shooting.

MEN'S PRAYER AND FELLOWSHIP BREAKFAST
If you were to drive past Beacon Bible Church around 9:30 AM on the last Saturday of each month, you would notice that there are a number of vehicles in the parking lot and if you would enter the Fellowship Hall, the smell of breakfast would permeate the room.

The men in our congregation and friends gather together to enjoy a hearty breakfast in celebration and gratitude for the many blessings of the month. There is something powerful as they start their day in prayer and share a meal. A short devotional follows breakfast with time for discussion. What better way for men to share the struggles and joys in their daily lives while encouraging their Christian brothers with prayers and support.

Come and join us on October 31st at 9:30 AM for prayer, fellowship, and a meal as only men can prepare.
